Spring is here again. I walked out my door this week and there it was – quite unexpected. My Aunt Laura used to call Spring the annual miracle and she was right. We are coming to life in the San Francisco Bay Area – our skies are clear and blue and everything is very green after the rainy season. The cherry trees are beginning to bloom. Pink trees are incredibly life-affirming. I so love pink trees. Spring Forward – it's such a relief that it started without me. In October one of my dearest friends got a terminal diagnosis and I have been mourning ever since. She is still with us, but only barely.
I cannot. Cannot. Accept that she is leaving soon. I am heavy with sorrow.
And so I have been suspended in Fall Back. But while I've been there, the seasons have continued their perfect rotation. And like they do every Spring the miraculous pink trees have returned.
