It's to the point where people now mock us when we say it. "Sure Deb, sure Rich, uh huh..."
But last year, we got very, very close. We took a trip in October and spent several days looking. We found the perfect location, the perfect lot, the perfect builder, the perfect house plan. All orchestrated by the developer's agent – the World's biggest idiot - a Good Old Boy that refused to take me seriously. Our realtor roughed him up a little bit and then he became super-ingratiating which was equally irritating. But, after 6 weeks we still didn't have a contract that was correct and complete.
To truly demonstrate the inanity of all this, the first contract didn't even specify that a house was going to be built on the lot.
Finally one day I woke up and said, "I no longer feel like making this sloppy, inept man sell me a house." I completely lost my patience and we dumped him. And the perfect house / lot / builder and location. However, it was so ridiculous I don't even particularly feel bad about it. For what-ever reason, it wasn't meant to be. He still keeps sending us word that the perfect lot is still available. I'm astonished at how slowly Good Old Boys learn.
Stay tuned, we're still planning on being out of here sometime. Soon.
