Taking a Break
Yesterday was our 27th wedding anniversary. Every year I have the same thought, "it seems like just yesterday we got married, but I also can't remember a time when we weren't together."
In the search for a nice restaurant, the husband came across this place: Fearrington Village, near Chapel Hill. We decided it was time for a break, so we went and stayed overnight. It is now included on my favorite places list. It was incredibly charming and picturesque. The village includes a farm which has, without a doubt, the world's cutest cows. They're Scottish "Belties," big fuzzy Oreo cows. I'm pretty cow-conversant, but I've never seen these guys before. They look like really, really large plush toys.
The Inn evokes an English country Inn, nothing too sleek or modern here, just relaxed, genteel, floral comfort. We even had afternoon tea - so civilized. All your cares - just melting away with clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam - nicely transported on delicious scones.
I'm an afternoon tea kind of girl.
That night we had dinner next to the window at the restaurant and watched it rain. Walking back to the Inn from the restaurant the smell of fresh rain was intoxicating.
Because it was our anniversary, we also received special treats - fruit, chocolates, port, and a gift card to any of the village shops. And wouldn't you know? Wonderful shops just a short walk away - a nice home decor and gift shop, a wonderful bed and bath shop and best of all? A fabulous book store, filled with unique and interesting books, including a whole children's section for my small relatives.
You can also buy a Scottish Beltie at Fearrington Village, if you like. But they require you to agree - only as a pet.
Hmmm, they are awfully cute... and tame. Wouldn't a Scottish Beltie technically fit the HOA definition of a riding lawnmower?

That sounds like an incredibly lovely experience! I'm so glad you foundt his place. You deserve it after the hectic past couple months you've gone through. Being uprooted from friends, home and hearth isn't easy, but the end is near. And, as you're discovering, your new home holds many wonderful surprises in store.
Eileen said it all! You must have been putting out to the universe all your desires for a long time. All that you are discovering is like turning the pages of a picture book that you wrote for yourself. And it's all coming true. Your karmic energy is giving me goose bumps! But leave the Oreo cows on the farm. You can visit them anytime you want!
